Thank You Hickory!

As of August 12, 2018, Hickory Food Matters Market has closed its doors.  Opened in June of 2015, the Hickory store has faced increasing competition from well established, large regional and national grocers as well as new entrants into the Catawba County marketplace.

“We came to Hickory after three years of growth in our Brevard flagship store with the intent of offering a similar experience to folks in this area,” said Al Kirchner, one of the founders of the company. “We believed then and we continue to believe now, that providing quality products, supporting local producers, and being a part of a community matter. However, our growth in the Hickory area has not reached the levels we need to continue operating here.

Our successful and growing Food Matters Market & Cafe stores in Brevard and Morganton will continue operating, and we will continue to seek new opportunities elsewhere in the region.

We thank our loyal customers and look forward to welcoming them to our Morganton store located at 210 Avery Avenue, 25 minutes from the Hickory site. We also thank our loyal employees for their help and support.”
